Job Overview :

The Exhibit Developer works closely with the strategy/content team leads to shape and develop content for projects. This position is involved in all phases of the project, but most heavily focused on research (content familiarization and stakeholder/visitor), synthesizing outcomes , creating exhibit content frameworks (goals and messaging), and developing content for exhibit media, interactives, exhibit copy, and graphics. The Exhibit Developer will report with Senior Members of the Strategy Department in aligning content, graphics, and dimensional design and by developing documentation and deliverables for the client.

Essential Job Functions

Content Development & Exhibit Content Production :

• Help transform social, historical, and educational concepts into tangible ideas and compelling storylines that resonate with a project’s target audiences and client experience goals.
• Develop exhibit narrative by working closely with an internal interdisciplinary creative team, and subject matter experts/advisors to identify stories within the exhibit, exhibit flow, story narrative
• Conduct content research through primary and secondary sources to support development of the exhibit framework and other interpretive assets, including creating label, media, and interactive scripts/outlines ,
• Create the exhibit framework, content outlines, and other relevant documentation to identify and establish goals, messages, and other conceptual materials to inform and guide the internal creative team
• Drive exhibit development in collaboration with internal creative team to determine visitor experience flow and realize visitor experience concepts in physical space and how the story will be delivered (graphics, artifacts, interactives, etc.)
• Advocate for the effective and consistent implementation of visitor experience and interpretive goals established and outlined in the exhibit framework and other documentation throughout all project phases
• Facilitate internal brainstorms to generate and develop visitor experience elements, including small group sessions that produce ideas for review and refinement by larger project team
• Develop facilitation materials for client and stakeholder engagement. Synthesize, package, and distribute the outcome of sessions
• Write, proofread, and comment on exhibit label copy, media and interactive scripts, and other interpretive content, including project-related marketing language.
• Collaborate with project partners such as writers, media producers, interactive firms, website developers, and the like.
• Manage exhibit label writing process including working with writer and internal creative team to ensure consistent adherence to client messaging goals and incorporation of client and internal feedback
Assist in creation of concept books, proposals, and related assets: write narratives, edit final document, revise and refine concept book and related assets as project progresses

Research & Documentation:

• Research client and project needs to establish and develop concept direction, including: conceptual frameworks, goals, objectives, key messages, interpretive plan
• Support development of stakeholder and subject matter expert brainstorming sessions: plan, support/facilitate, and synthesize. Package and distribute outcome of sessions
• Participate in the planning and implementation of audience testing and evaluation related to exhibits and other interpretive projects, as necessary
