Luci Creative brings scientific secrets to young people in ways that will engage them in a deeper understanding and appreciation for life on our planet. We developed and designed an educational traveling pop-up exhibit based on the ambitious International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) and its flagship research vessel JOIDES Resolution (JR). Through hands-on learning the experience meets STEM objectives featuring an immersive theatre presentation inside a 45-foot long replica of the JR, in tandem with eight hands-on learning stations situated on a 30-foot long interactive floor map. Partners and hosts of this project include the National Science Foundation (NSF), universities, local libraries, Girl Scouts, and other youth organizations.
Visitors will actively explore what the sub-seafloor’s rocks and sediments can reveal about Earth’s development and ancient history and how these explorations can help us gain a deeper understanding on major issues like climate change, and geo-hazards like earthquakes and tsunamis. By design, this exhibit delivers two levels of content for either “early” or “advanced” learners and can be easily converted by on-site staff.
The Museum and Luci Creative partnered with local community groups to continue important conversations with community stakeholders both in-person and online workshops.
